About

At University College Roosevelt, you’ll join a small, international community in the heart of Middelburg (the Netherlands), a beautiful medieval town just a short bike ride from the beach. With over 160 courses to choose from, you design your own degree and learn in small, interactive classes. Life and learning go hand in hand here, on a campus where everyone belongs.

Meet us in Middelburg to learn more about UCR! This is your opportunity to find out what studying at UCR and student life in Middelburg is all about.

UCR is a truly international university, located in the southwest of the Netherlands, in Middelburg, a beautiful medieval town with a contemporary rhythm.

Our academic buildings are situated in the historic heart of the city — next to the market square, cafés, and library, and just a train ride away from cities like Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Brussels. Oh... and the beach? That’s just a 15-minute bike ride away.

Our campus is compact, but full of character. You'll study in buildings named after the Roosevelts — Franklin, Eleanor, and Anne. And you'll live in guaranteed student housing in one of four locations: Bachtensteene, Bagijnhof, Roggeveenhof, or Koestraat. Each is just a few minutes' walk away.

With approximately 500 students and 50 staff members, UCR is intentionally small and globally oriented. Over half of our students come from abroad, representing more than 60 nationalities. Everyone brings something different. And yet, everyone belongs.

You’ll build your program from approximately 160 different courses. Your classes will be small, interactive, and personal. You won’t just sit and listen; you’ll debate, collaborate, question, and connect. And through Community Engaged Learning, you’ll also work with local partners; learning from the people, places, and challenges around you. At UCR, life and learning go hand in hand. It’s a place that helps you grow... and one that keeps growing with you.

Applicants who have completed, or will soon complete, the final level of secondary education that prepares students for university-level study (e.g., International Baccalaureate, European Baccalaureate, British A-levels, Abitur) are eligible to apply. Full requirements for each diploma are listed on our website.

Applicants who have already finished secondary school and have since earned university credits are also welcome to apply.

Our alumni enjoyed their time at UCR – 90% of our alumni would choose to study at UCR again! Though Middelburg is a small city, there is plenty to do when it comes to sports, hobbies, dining, and creativity. But Middelburg and Zeeland also have plenty to offer.
