About

The University at Albany, part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, was established in 1844 as the New York State Normal School, the first state-chartered institution for teacher education in New York. Over time, it evolved into the New York State College for Teachers and eventually became a comprehensive public research university.

Academically, UAlbany provides over 50 undergraduate majors and more than 150 graduate programs through its nine schools and colleges. Notable areas of study include public administration, criminal justice, business, psychology, and emerging fields like nanotechnology and cybersecurity.
