Master of Management (Information Technology)

The Master of Management (Information Technology) is designed for those who would like to advance their knowledge and aspire to be successful managers in the information technology and other business sectors.


PERIOD OF STUDY

The duration of study is 4 trimesters (about 1 1/4 years).


CLASSES AND STUDENT INTAKES


Evening Classes:


Classes are held on weekdays (6.30 pm - 9.30 pm) during the evenings and on Saturday afternoons (2.30 pm - 5.30 pm). There is only one intake for students in September (first trimester) of each academic year.

COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION

At the end of the programme, students are required to sit for a comprehensive examination. This written examination encompasses all the topics covered in the courses studied. A student can graduate only if he/she passes the comprehensive examination.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

To qualify for the Master of Management (Information Technology) (MM (IT)) programme, applicants must posses one of the following qualifications:


  1. An Honours Degree with a CGPA of at least 2.500 or its equivalent and two years of working experience. An applicant with a CGPA below 2.50 will only be considered if he/she has held or is holding a middle-level management position in an organisation for at least ten years; or,
  2. A professional qualification recognized as the equivalent with (i) above and the required working experience; or
  3. Other qualification that is approved by the UPM senate and the required working experience.



Language Proficiency Requirements for All Post-Graduate Programmes:


(English Language)

  • Malaysian applicants must have obtained at least a credit in English at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or have passed the English courses conducted at the Diploma or Bachelor's level.
  • All international candidates from countries where English is not a medium of instruction must have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 550 or Band 6 for IELTS.
  • Provisional admission may be granted to an applicant who has obtained a TOEFL score of between 500 to 549 or Band 5.5 for IELTS or its equivalent. The applicant, upon registration, is required to enrol and pass the Tertiary English Programme conducted by the University.


(Malay Language)


All international students (except students from Indonesia and Brunei) must obtain a grade 'M' for the Malay Language course (BBM 1401 or its equivalent) to be eligible for conferral of a degree.
