Key Summary
The Sorbonne School of Economics will be hosting it's annual Open House
The Sorbonne School of Economics is launching a new Bachelor's degree program in Economics - International Track. This national degree (license) is taught entirely in English and designed for French and international students. This program welcomes 250 students in the first year and offers a unique opportunity to study economics at one of the best universities in France, with tuition fees at the national rate.
The Bachelor of Economics – International Track is a new track within the existing Bachelor of Economics offering at the Sorbonne School of Economics. This program reinforces the university's strategy to expand its educational offering internationally and to meet the growing demand for high-quality economics programs taught in English.
The program allows students residing in France to pursue studies in English without the high costs of a stay abroad. It also allows non-French-speaking international students to follow a program taught entirely in English at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne while learning French through French as a Foreign Language courses. French-speaking students benefit from reinforced teaching in modern languages (English and/or LV2).
The Sorbonne Innovates with an English-Taught Economics Bachelor's Program - International Track
In September 2025, Panthéon Sorbonne University Paris 1 will launch a new undergraduate program: the Economics Bachelor's (Licence)- International Track. Fully taught in English, this innovative, fee-free course offers the opportunity to join a program of excellence.
As of September 2025, up to 250 students (maybe you?) will join the new Economics Licence- International Track at the Sorbonne School of Economics. The academic teams have been working on the project for months, with one goal in mind: to design an international program entirely taught in English that meets student demand while positioning this prestigious University on the global stage. As emphasized by the program's coordinator, Rémi Bazillier, the program also aims “to cater to students who may not have the financial capacity to enroll in a Bachelor's program abroad.” Indeed, the new Economics Licence - International Track is designed to be affordable... and already prestigious.
A Unique Educational Experience in France
“If you look around France, programs exclusively in English are rare, if not inexistent; generally, only a few courses are offered in English, and it is mainly in the third year that the level increases,” says Rémi Bazillier. This has now been resolved: France now boasts its own 100% English-taught program of excellence, the Economics Licence - International Track at Sorbonne, determined to attract both French and international students.
Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Monetary Economics, History of Economic Thought… The courses will mirror those offered in the general Economics Bachelor's (licence) program: “We refer to the same curriculum as our French program,” notes the program coordinator. “But changing the language also changes the perspective: the approach is more international, for example, institutional courses focus on the institutions of other countries.” Additionally, students will choose a minor. Among the options available: a French program option (management, philosophy, law, etc.), or a program offered by UNA Europa, a European alliance of 11 prestigious universities, such as the European Studies certificate or micro-credits on sustainable development, enhancing their CV.
An open program recruits students based not only on their academic background but also, and most importantly, their motivation. Of course, the entry requirements are the same as for the general Economics Bachelor's program, meaning students must have a strong grasp of mathematics and an interest in economics. “But what matters to us is a genuine interest in international programs,” emphasizes the program coordinator.
With the Economics Licence - International Track at the Sorbonne, you’ll have the opportunity to study at one of France’s top universities specializing in economics, right in the heart of Paris. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what counts is your desire to be part of an international program.
Courses offered in the international track will be aligned with the content of the general economics track, but will be taught entirely in English. Students will have the choice of several minor options, including:
- Certificate of European Studies (offered by UNA Europa)
- A minor taught in French (management, geography, law, philosophy, sociology, history)
- A second foreign language
- Microcredentials on sustainable development (proposed by UNA Europa)
- In addition, people who do not speak French will have access to French as a Foreign Language (FLE) courses to help them adapt to studying in France.
