Key Summary
About: The Master's Degree in Space Engineering (MSE) gives technical and scientific knowledge, skills and transversal competencies to work across flight and ground segments in the space sector. It combines skills from professions normally practiced separately. Keywords: spacecraft, satellite systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, attitude control, thermal control, structures, materials.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can design technologies; model space environment; calculate orbital mechanics; implement attitude and thermal control; design and operate launch vehicles; analyze structures and materials; define power, data, communications, electronics and reliability. Potential careers include spacecraft engineer, satellite systems engineer, propulsion engineer, systems engineer, ground segment operations and more.
The Master's Degree in Space Engineering (MSE) provides students with technical and scientific knowledge, skills, abilities, and specific and transversal competencies that enable them to work in engineering within the space sector, both in the flight and ground segments. It combines competencies from various professions that are typically practiced separately.
The MSE's main objective is the multidisciplinary training of professionals required by an innovative and growing industrial sector, such as the space sector (without qualifying them to practice a regulated profession).
Specific objectives:
- International character. Teaching is conducted entirely in English, the language currently used for international communication, and national and international mobility is promoted.
- Project development. Significant interaction is promoted with the industrial sector (engineering projects) and academia (research projects).
- Rapid technological and application evolution. To take this into account, a module called 'Advanced' is offered, with supplementary training content that can be modified according to current and future trends.
Studies leading to an official university degree grant access to scholarships and financial aid. The Ministry responsible for education, the Valencian Regional Government, and the Polytechnic University of Valencia itself offer various scholarships and financial aid programs.
Students graduating from this master's program, in accordance with the requirements established in the Spanish Framework for Qualifications in Higher Education (MECES, RD 1027/2011), have training that allows them to:
- to understand, design and apply advanced space technologies.
- to know the spatial environment.
- calculate orbital mechanics.
- apply attitude control.
- apply thermal control.
- design, build and operate launch vehicles.
- calculate spatial mechanisms and structures.
- select and study materials.
- analyze the power system.
- define the data management and processing system.
- to establish communications, including spatial ones.
- optimize electronics.
- define compatibilities, reliability, etc.
Engineering graduates passionate about space.
