The conservation, safeguarding and appreciation of heritage is an obligation of the society of our time. In architecture we should not understand by heritage only the immovable property classified as cultural interest (monuments), but also the set of structures that form the context where society has been configured throughout its history.
Today, faced with new challenges (among others, sustainable development), the main challenge of contemporary architecture is knowing how to respond to the growth of our historic cities, respecting the inherited urban landscape without endangering its authenticity or integrity. Conferring the capacity to face this challenge with solvency, through conservation, management actions, or through intervention, is the main objective of the Máster Universitario en Conservación del Patrimonio Arquitectónico taught by the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the UPV since 2006.
