Key Summary

    About : The Degree in Civil Engineering offers a comprehensive education in the field of engineering. Students learn about structures, materials, and project management to prepare for real-world challenges. The program emphasizes practical experience and includes opportunities for internships and hands-on projects, enhancing technical skills and knowledge.
    Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue various careers in civil engineering, including roles as structural engineers, project managers, or environmental engineers. They may also work in government and private sectors, contributing to the development of infrastructure and urban planning initiatives.

The course

The Undergraduate Course in Civil Engineering can be completed in five years (10 periods) and is structured in such a way as to provide the classical theoretical foundations and the most advanced techniques currently applicable to solving problems in the area.

The course ensures the student a solid formation in the area of activity, increasing in its scope as a result of the constant technological evolution of the modern world, highlighting the non-aggression to the environment and the increasing participation of civil engineers in administration activities , management and planning. Daily, there are several and profound changes, due to the development of new materials and technologies, and the creation and adoption of new methods of analysis, influenced by the use of computers. For this reason, the field of action of Civil Engineering has expanded and gone beyond traditionally established areas (structures, geotechnics and transport, water resources and construction materials).

Accompanying innovations and seeking to keep the graduation curriculum and teaching methodologies up to date, the Civil Engineering course at UVA provides its students with technical visits and practical classes in geotechnical laboratories, construction materials, topography, in addition to computing resources.

Course Features

The course ensures the student a solid formation in the area of activity, growing in its scope as a result of the constant technological evolution of the modern world, highlighting the non-aggression to the environment and the increasing participation of civil engineers in administration activities, management and planning. Accompanying innovations and seeking to keep the graduation curriculum and teaching methodologies up to date, the Civil Engineering Course at UVA provides its students with technical visits and practical classes in laboratories of Geotechnics, construction materials, topography, as well as computing resources.

UVA Differentials

  • The course has laboratories for Geotechnics, Construction Materials and Reinforced Concrete, in addition to IT infrastructure comprising seven IT labs and two multimedia rooms;
  • Civil Engineering has four main lines of action: Structures, Geotechnics and Roads, Water Resources and Construction Materials. And, permanently following technological innovations, the Civil Engineering Course at UVA keeps its curricular structure and teaching methodology up-to-date.
  • The course provides its students with technical visits and practical classes, accompanying and practicing the technologies used by companies, allowing them a critical view of Engineering problems, expanding their capabilities to create and propose objective and effective solutions.
  • Compatible with competitiveness in the new economy, the Civil Engineering Course also provides its students with a set of complementary activities, scientific initiation projects and engineering projects carried out during the course and in the development of the monograph.
  • Professional experience allows the engineer to conquer valued jobs. The graduation enables the professional to continue in academic life, either as a student in extension and postgraduate courses or as a professor and researcher.
