Key Summary

About: The PhD in Fluid Thermodynamic Engineering focuses on advanced study and research in the areas of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. This program allows students to explore theoretical and practical aspects of energy systems, transport processes, and thermal management. Candidates engage in significant research projects that contribute to advancements in these fields.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue careers in academia, research positions, or industries related to energy engineering, aerospace, and mechanical engineering. Opportunities also exist in industries developing thermal systems or improving fluid dynamics methodologies.

Introduction

The Doctoral Program in Fluid Thermodynamic Engineering is a scientific-technological program defined from two concepts, thermodynamics (from the Greek force of heat) and fluid as a working material system. His lines of research are articulated from energy, its transformations, work fluids and chemical processes and its objectives focus on efficiency and sustainability as the foundations of the technological development of society.

The five research groups have extensive experience in this field and have been collaborating for years in doctoral training, the development of research projects, the organization of international symposia, and the dissemination of their work in publications and communications at conferences. The program is part of the research, transfer and doctoral training strategy of the four participating universities within the scientific, academic, economic and social context of the three autonomous communities to which they belong.

The enormous variety of research training needs and methods in the different fields of knowledge advises that universities use a high degree of flexibility in regulating these studies, promoting the collaboration of various entities and organizations in doctoral training. In this sense, the University will promote collaboration in the doctorate of all social sectors, particularly industries, companies and technology centers. The objective is to collaborate in the training of good researchers and doctors who will have to lead and cooperate in the transfer of knowledge from the University to society. In this way, a model of doctoral training based on the university is promoted but in which the collaboration of other organizations, entities and institutions involved in R & D + i is integrated in a harmonized way at both regional, national and international levels.

Lines of investigation

  • Thermodynamic and transport properties of fluids and industrial interest
  • Metrology of thermal quantities
  • Processes in supercritical medium
  • Absorption systems for refrigeration, power and heat pumping
