Introduction
The Master's Degree in High Performance Computing, organized by the universities of A Coruña and Santiago de Compostela, together with the Galician Supercomputing Center (CESGA), specializes students in such an important topic today as High Performance Computing (HPC).
High Performance Computing (HPC) enables scientists and engineers to solve complex scientific, engineering, and even business problems, using applications that require high bandwidth, advanced networks, and very large computational or data analysis capabilities. The professionals who are trained in this specialization have the knowledge and skills needed by companies and institutions with R+D+i centers that want or need to incorporate emerging technologies. HPC is related to topics as fashionable as multicore processors (formerly specific to large computer equipment, but today present in PCs, tablets or mobile phones), cloud computing (cloud computing) or the so-called Big Data.
The Master's Degree in High Performance Computing has as its fundamental objective the training of professionals, technologists and researchers in the field of computer architecture and high performance computing. This affects academic, research and technology transfer aspects that will allow students to join R+D+i departments, technology centers or start doctoral studies in the field of high-performance computing.
Major multinational companies such as IBM, HP, Bull, Fujitsu, AMD, Amazon Web Services or Gompute collaborate in this master's degree, as well as the Professional College of Computer Engineering of Galicia.
Curriculum
The academic program consists of 9 subjects, professional practices and a Master's Thesis. Of the 9 subjects, 5 are compulsory and the other 4 are optional, giving rise to a total of 27 compulsory ECTs, 24 optional ECTs (12 to be chosen), 6 ECTs for company internships and 15 ECTs for the Master's Thesis.
The master's degree is organized into 2 semesters, which remain dependent on the content of the subjects.
Teaching is taught jointly by the Escola Técnica Superior de Enxeñaría (ETSE) of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Faculty of Informatics of the University of A Coruña (UDC).
Videoconferencing technology will be used to teach expository and interactive classes. The master's degree will be taught in the afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In the first semester from Monday to Friday and in the second semester from Tuesday to Thursday.
The student will have the recorded classes available for viewing at any time, in addition to all the teaching material.
This Master has the distinction of excellent university master's degree granted by the Xunta de Galicia to the official university master's degrees taught by the universities of the Galician University System.
Program Outcome
This Master's main objective is to train researchers in the field of computer architecture and high-performance computing. This affects academic training, research and technology transfer that will allow students to join centers or departments of innovation, research and development, technology parks, industrial parks, high technology centers, and/or begin carrying out the doctoral thesis in the area of high-performance computing. Likewise, social and environmental values related to computing are promoted, and a set of transversal skills aimed at professional development, such as the ability to work in teams, lead work groups, oral and written communication and, particularly, ability to continue learning throughout the professional career.

In the academic field, the program aims for a higher specialization that allows access to a new level of knowledge, once an access qualification in the branch of engineering or experimental sciences has been obtained.
In the scientific field, graduates who complete this master's degree will be qualified to work in multidisciplinary research centers or teams, as they will be able to apply supercomputing techniques in technological and industrial environments to improve quality and productivity, and they will know and They will know how to use the tools provided by a supercomputer to solve the technical and scientific problems of their specialty.
