Master's Degree in Chemical Research and Industrial Chemistry

The program is organized into an academic-research profile and a professional profile, which have the same duration (60 ECTS):

• Mandatory: 15

• Master's final project: 24

The study plan consists of 6 different specialties:

• Structure and Chemical Reactivity
• Synthetic Chemistry
• Biological Chemistry
• Nanochemistry and New Materials
• Advanced Analytical Techniques
• Chemistry and Industrial Economics

The study plan is structured into 10 different modules and can have two different itineraries: an academic-research profile and a professional profile.

• Module 1 related to the mandatory Advanced training and Module 10 related to the Master's Thesis are mandatory for all students taking the master's degree.
• Students can complete the master's degree without following a specific specialty, requiring them to take Module 8 (Introduction to Scientific Research) or Module 9 (Initiation to Professional Practice), in addition to elective subjects from any of the specialties until completing the master's degree. total of 60 credits.
• The student who wishes to have the specialties of: Chemical Structure and Reactivity, Synthetic Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Nanochemistry and New Materials, Advanced Analytical Techniques; You must take the subjects indicated in each of them, the mandatory modules and module 8.
• The student who wishes to have the specialty of: Chemistry and Industrial Economics must take the subjects indicated therein, the mandatory modules and module 9.
• The student who wishes to follow the professional profile must necessarily take, in addition to the two mandatory modules, modules 7 and 9.

Regarding the delivery of teachings, it will be developed with a mixed in-person and virtual system. The languages used are Galician, Spanish and English.

1. Train professionals capable of competing in such dynamic areas as the chemical, pharmaceutical, biomedical, agri-food, phyto and biosanitary industries, as well as in the production of new materials, in environmental control, in analysis and quality control, and in the field of The renewable energies.
2. Provide advanced specialized training, mainly in instrumental techniques, that is useful to be able to advantageously apply for jobs in the public and private sectors.
3. To be an instrument for continuous training of professionals in the different fields of Chemistry.
4. Provide advanced theoretical and experimental training, which allows them to access the completion of a doctoral thesis in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry or Organic Chemistry.

Students who want to access the master's degree should:

• Be in possession of sufficient knowledge of Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Chemical Engineering.
• Have basic knowledge of Mathematics, Physics and Biology.
• Possess sufficient experimental training for the handling of materials and for the execution of common tasks in chemical laboratories.
• Have competencies and skills related to the management of the most common office automation applications.
• Show interest in the Master and demonstrate work capacity.

Students who have completed their studies outside of Spain may be admitted without having to validate their degree, as long as they prove a level of training equivalent to the corresponding Spanish access degrees, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree Law 1393/2007 and in 861/2010.

This master's degree, in addition to allowing students to begin their research career, is indicated to train professionals capable of competing in areas such as: the chemical, pharmaceutical, biomedical industry, production of new materials, agri-food, environmental control and study, analysis and quality control, phyto- and biosanitary and in the field of renewable energies.
