Introduction
The purpose of this master's degree is to provide basic training and an update on the knowledge of the molecular and cellular mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of human diseases. The student will obtain a solid foundation to start doctoral programs oriented towards biomedical research, acquiring basic skills in experimental laboratory work, as well as the ability to develop professional tasks in the field of biomedical research.
The orientation of the master's degree is research, so it is aimed at students who wish to continue their training by completing a doctoral thesis in the field of Biomedicine.
Probably most of the students who pass this course continue their training by completing a doctoral thesis, either in the programs in which this master's degree is integrated, or in other programs at other universities in the field of Biomedicine.
Curriculum
It has 60 credits distributed over two semesters.
- Mandatory: 21
- Electives: 15
- Master's final project: 24
Students must take the module of compulsory subjects, 9 optional credits corresponding to the electives of the 1st semester, 6 optional credits of the 2nd semester, and the Master's Thesis.
The teaching regime is face-to-face and 4 reserved places are offered to be able to take the master's degree part-time. The teaching languages of the master's degree are Spanish, Galician and English.
The specific language that will be used in each subject will be included in its annual teaching schedule, so that future students will have that information before enrolling. The Academic Commission will advise teachers on the increasing introduction of teaching in English, as the lingua franca of science that it is today.

Ideal Students
Although no specific degree is required, for admission to the Master's Degree in Biomedical Research it is recommended, but not essential, to have completed the studies corresponding to the Degrees in Biology, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Chemistry, Dentistry, Nursing and Psychology. or any other degree that includes studies in Fundamental Biology and/or Medicine.
