Key Summary
Introduction
The master's degree, of an interuniversity nature, provides the advanced training that, both in the specialty of Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology and in Cognitive Neuroscience, a Neuroscience professional must possess in order to have the theoretical and experimental bases required to carry out a doctoral thesis.
Curriculum
Credits that the student must take to obtain the degree:
- Required: 20
- Electives: 21
- Master's Final Project: 19
- Total: 60
The Master's program is structured in three modules. Elective subjects are taught during the second semester. All elective subjects consist of 3 credits, and they develop content from both specialties:
- Cognitive Neuroscience
- Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology Module
For a specialty to appear in the degree, the student must take at least 5 subjects within the specialty.
The mandatory subjects will be taught by videoconference at the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruรฑa and Vigo.
- The subjects with morning hours are taught in the Castelao classroom of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
- The subjects with afternoon hours are taught in room 5 of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, except Physiology of the Nervous System which is taught in the Board Room of the Faculty of Biology of the University of Vigo.
- The optional subjects are taught in the departments of the person responsible for the Course.
- The subjects taught by videoconference are indicated on the master's website.
The teaching languages are Spanish and Galician.
Program Outcome
The master's degree in neuroscience aims to offer a program aimed at the advanced training of researchers in the field of neuroscience, which is capable of responding to the challenges posed by the European Higher Education Area in the field of postgraduate studies. Provides the theoretical and experimental bases necessary for the completion of the Doctoral Thesis in the field of Neuroscience

Career Opportunities
In the professional field, the postgraduate degree in Neuroscience provides students with the theoretical and technical knowledge necessary for jobs in companies and industries related to this field.
It allows clinic professionals to update their knowledge of the biological bases of the functioning of the nervous system, as well as neurological and mental disorders.
The master's degree is characterized by its interdisciplinarity, covering areas of basic, applied and clinical neuroscience, also offering training in new technologies such as genomics and bioinformatics.
It has researcher and academic profiles, since it is fundamentally aimed at training researchers, giving access to doctoral studies in Neuroscience, but it constitutes a specialty in itself.
