Key Summary
Introduction
This doctoral program aims to provide the society of specialist professionals in rural areas and civil engineering with an adequate ability to diagnose existing problems and with knowledge to solve them from applied research typical of the field of Engineering, with special emphasis on in research, development and transfer of results. This degree provides a response to a growing demand from applied professionals and researchers, since it is intended to provide students with advanced and quality scientific and technological training, thus contributing to rural and civil development.
Presentation
The doctoral program "Engineering for Rural and Civil Development" has as a precedent the Doctoral Program of the Department of Agroforestry Engineering of the University of Santiago de Compostela, which obtained the Mention of Excellence for the period 2011-2014. The Program includes 14 lines of research and 46 doctors supported by the research groups of the Department of Agroforestry Engineering. Specifically, we can mention the following: Forest management. Projects and planning. Sustainable rural construction. Water management. Savings and energy efficiency. Photogrammetry and remote sensing. Civil and maritime engineering. Design of agricultural and food products. Numerical simulation in structures. Management of native hardwoods for cooperage. Agrarian mechanization. Engineering of milk production. The Program has agreements and collaborations with research entities, which ensures, for both PhDs and PhD students, potential mobility in Spain and abroad.
