Introduction

The trained professional is qualified to work in the areas of clinical and surgery of companion animals, clinical and surgery of production or sport animals and also in multidisciplinary teams in the areas of collective health, ecology, environmental sanitation and prevention of zoonoses. In animal production and reproduction activities, it operates in the zootechnical areas of creation and production of meat and milk of various species, as well as technology and inspection of products of animal origin. Agricultural and agro-industrial administration and technical control of animal medicine laboratories and feed factories are also areas of expertise of the veterinarian, among countless others.

The Veterinary Medicine course has a Farm School and a modern Veterinary Hospital where teaching, research and community service procedures are carried out. The course is daytime, lasting 5 years.

The Veterinary Medicine Course at CENTRO UNIVESITÁRIO PRESIDENTE ANTÔNIO CARLOS/Campus Juiz de Fora should train a professional able to get involved with veterinary medical activities to resolve issues in the area focused on economic, social, environmental and political aspects. The professional must have broad theoretical, practical, scientific and technological knowledge, as well as skill, critical thinking and creativity, so that he can generate technologies and meet needs compatible with current needs, especially those of the region, based on the interests of the community and in the permanent and harmonious integration between animals, man and public health.

The general objective of the Veterinary Medicine course is to train generalist professionals, within a holistic view, with the skills and competences necessary for activities of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of animal diseases, in animal production, technology of products of animal origin and public health. The course provides solid training for professionals ethically committed to the production and dissemination of knowledge, committing to community needs, as well as analyzing and constructing the nature and social role of the veterinarian.
