Introduction

About the course

Metodista's Economic Sciences course received grade 4 (on a scale of 1 to 5) in the latest MEC assessment and seeks to train professionals committed to the study of the Brazilian reality and aware of the importance of the interrelationships that link economic phenomena to the social and , in particular, of its role as an agent of these relationships. In this way, students receive a solid theoretical, historical and instrumental training.

According to the institution's philosophy, training seeks to combine technique with ethics and prepare students to work in different areas of the public or private sector. The course, with evening classes, can be completed in four years.

Resources

The course has classrooms with multimedia resources, ergonomic chairs and simulation and research software, as well as computerized laboratories with access to the Internet and to the database of similar institutions. Students also have access to the extensive and up-to-date collection of the Library.

In addition, the Economic Observatory is an integral part of the course activities, being used by professors and students in carrying out research projects and in the application of field research.

The professional

You will be able to carry out studies, research, analyses, reports, opinions, expertise, arbitrations, reports, schemes and certificates on matters in your professional field, as well as planning, implementing, guiding, supervising and assisting work related to economic activities or financial investments in public, private or mixed undertakings, in order to obtain an increase or conservation of economic performance.

Labor market

The public sector economist deals with macroeconomic issues such as inflation, industrial policy, public deficit, exchange rate and fiscal policy. In the private sector, its performance focuses on microeconomic aspects such as production costs, pricing and financial operations. In the public sector, its work is in the areas of budgeting, finance, analysis of the situation and advice on hiring human resources and purchasing materials. In the private sector, there are opportunities in the financial market, research institutes, advisory and consulting companies, industry, agribusiness, commerce, services, universities and class entities and foreign trade, for example.
