Key Summary
About: This Master's degree specializes in research and innovation in didactics for early childhood and primary education in the Faculties of Educational Sciences of Galicia. It continues undergraduate studies and supports progression to doctoral thesis; it accommodates teachers trained under older Teaching degrees. The programme provides pedagogy, curriculum design and educational research skills for regulated schooling, cultural industries and non‑formal education linked to Galicia’s strategic sectors, responding to labor‑market demands and diversified professional profiles.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can work as primary school teachers, early childhood educators, curriculum developers, educational researchers, teacher trainers, or pursue doctoral research, and school leadership roles.
This master's degree is configured as a specialization of the degrees and masters taught in the Faculties of Educational Sciences of Galicia. The implementation proposal for the 2018-19 academic year would give continuity, on the one hand, to undergraduate studies, so that students opt for greater specialization and/or want to complete their training with the completion of a doctoral thesis. It could also accommodate professionals who come from the old Teaching degrees, and who could expand and improve their knowledge in the context of their training as teachers.
The Master's Degree in research and innovation in specific didactics for Early Childhood and Primary Education provides specialized training for professional performance both in fields directly related to education, and more specifically with regulated education, as well as in fields of cultural industries and non-public education. formal, linked to strategic sectors of Galicia.
The current economic and social situation, which, although it is true that it offers not very encouraging prospects in the short term as far as job placement is concerned, also leads to greater demands on the training of professionals and cannot prevent a comprehensive vision of the profiles and fields of action that are increasingly diversified and, therefore, that offer more possibilities for the labor insertion of university students.
Although it is not essential to have a pedagogical background associated exclusively with a single degree to study the master's degree, there are some characteristics that are considered appropriate for studying these courses.

Languages to be used in the training process and required level
One of the objectives set by the Linguistic Normalisation plans of the Galician Universities is to promote Galician as the habitual language of communication, expression and work of the university community. In this sense, it is established that the centres, departments, administrative and service departments, have Galician as the language of use. Likewise, the documents that the departments and institutional entities prepare: the reports, the minutes, the official communications for the notice boards, the subject programmes, etc., will be written in Galician. Due to this, students are requested to have a sufficient command of either of the two official languages of the Galician autonomous community. In addition, it should be noted that the reference to the ability to communicate orally and in writing in Galician is specifically included in the Universidade de Vigo as a transversal competence.
