Key Summary
Introduction
Master in Ecotoxicology and Risk Analysis
The evolution of society has been accompanied by the development of new technologies and products that give rise to a great diversity of contaminants that can be hazardous to public health and ecosystems. For example, the increasing use of chemicals can pose significant risks to human health and the environment at the various stages of the life cycle of these substances (production, storage, use and final destination). The adoption of vast European legislation in this field, which requires the assessment of these risks, and the growing concern about the effects of toxic agents and pollution on ecosystems and human health, leads to the need to train specialists in Ecotoxicology, Toxicology and Risk Analysis. This cycle of studies focuses on the mechanisms of action of contaminants at the sub-cellular and cellular levels, as well as their effects on individuals, populations, communities and ecosystems (Ecotoxicology) and on Human Health (Toxicology). Based on a highly qualified academic staff with vast curriculum in this scientific area, the master's degree in Eco-Toxicology and Risk Analysis establishes bridges between scientific knowledge and its application in decision-making, regulation and environmental management processes. This is an area in which the national and international market has a growing need for employees.
