Introduction

Master in Computational Engineering

The MCE reconciles two objectives:

1) to provide specialized training for students with initial training in Computational Engineering; 2) develop programming skills and modeling for students without an initial degree in Computational Engineering, making them competent professionals in Computational Engineering in a specific scientific area and consistent with their initial engineering training. The Master's degree in Computational Engineering (MCE) will form professionals capable of developing, adapting and critically using software that models and simulates natural phenomena. Computational Engineering differs from Masters oriented to Informatics and Computers, as it centers the study in the natural phenomenon instead of the computer and software, and it uses the computer as a tool.

MCE takes advantage of the growing availability of software to model and simulate natural phenomena in numerous scientific and technological areas with economic impact. The MCE develops the critical sense, creativity, autonomous learning, the ability to work in groups and interdisciplinary teams, and the communication capacity, which are essential for the Computational Engineering professional practice.
