Introduction

Doctorate in Public Policies

  • To broaden the graduate and post-graduate Programs in Public Admini. and Public Policy (PP) at the UA and to strengthen the interdepartmental collaboration in promoting a trans-disciplinary education;
  • To contribute to the national and international assertion of the UA regarding PP and as a centre of scientific know-how, which guarantees critical thinking and the capacity to conceive, implement and evaluate new solutions:
  • By training researchers and the promoting research and development projects that:
    • i) theoretically justify public action and the role of the state and the markets, considering the limitations in their actions and interactions;
    • ii) create intervention methodologies in specific fields that combine the satisfaction of the general interest with maximum efficiency and effectiveness;
  • By training experts with the adequate competences to perform top and intermediate level activities in public administration and at the interface of the public and private spheres.
