Doctorate in Physical Engineering

The program in Physical Engineering (Ph.D.) corresponds to the formation of researchers in the area of Physical Engineering, of high qualification and autonomy degree, to work in:

  • industrial sectors;
  • Universities and Research Centers.
  • Others, where also they are required, have multiple abilities in the domain of knowledge transference and technology.

The Ph.D. program establishes that, following the requirements of Artº 28 of Law 74/2006 of 24/3/2006,

1 - The doctorate is conferred to whom demonstrate:

  • a) Capacity for systematic understanding in a scientific domain of study;
  • b) Abilities, aptitudes, and methods associated with a scientific domain;
  • c) Capacity to conceive, design, adapt, and carry through a significant inquiry with the requirements imposed for the standards of academic quality and integrity;
  • d) To have carried through a significant set of works of original inquiry that has contributed to the widening of the borders of the knowledge, part of which deserves the national or international spreading in publications with comité of selecção;
  • e) To analyze critically, evaluate, and to synthesize new and complex ideas;
  • f) To communicate with its pairs, academic community, and the society in general in the area where they are specialized;
  • g) To promote technological, social, or cultural progress.
