Doctorate in Marine Science, Technology and Management

The Doctoral Program Do*Mar - Marine Science, Technology and Management is a joint international PhD offered by the Universities of Aveiro, Minho, Trás-os-Montes-e-Alto-Douro, Porto, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela and Coruña, with the collaboration of CSIC - Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, the Instituto Español de Oceanografía, the University of St. Andrews, the Station Biologique de Roscof and the Institute of Oceanography of the University of S. Paulo as host partners.

Do*Mar intends to offer a training of international excellence, with a global vision and multi-annual planning that can attract students of different nationalities to obtain doctoral level training, of a fundamental or applied nature, in one of the 4 branches in which it is organized: Ocean Observation and Global Change; Sustainable Use of Marine Resources; Integrated Management of the Sea; Technological Progress, Engineering and Business Management.

International collaboration in marine sciences is a central objective of Do*Mar. It is recommended for each student a supervision by a professor or researcher in a Portuguese partner and another in a foreign institution, as well as a minimum stay of 6 months in the foreign institution (one of the Do*Mar partners or a higher education institution or research institute of any foreign country). In addition, Do*Mar Advanced Courses and Transversal Courses often have the participation of international experts.
