Key Summary
Introduction
Doctorate in Language Sciences
The Doctorate in Language Sciences offers advanced training in the fields of language, in general, and natural languages, with particular emphasis on an applied dimension.
The doctoral program is organized in three academic years, the last two being dedicated to the elaboration of the doctoral thesis. In the first year, contents and skills in several linguistic fields will be available in seminars. The general goal is to respond to the previous training and interests of doctoral candidates, thus allowing the choice of a thesis topic. In this sense, training is offered in the study of contrastive languages, in language acquisition, in applied linguistics and in the investigation of the cultural dimension of languages ??in the context of communication. Of the three last areas indicated, only two are available according to the general profile of the doctoral students. Furthermore, the existence of an optional curricular unit, to be freely chosen among those offered by the University of Aveiro, will also help to adapt the doctoral program to the training needs and objectives of doctoral students.
The teaching of curricular units and the supervision of doctoral theses is ensured by a team of fourteen professors with proven experience in teaching and research in the constitutive areas of the doctoral Program.
