Introduction

Doctorate in Biology and Ecology of Global Changes (Taught in English)

The PhD Program in “Biology and Ecology of Global Changes” is a co-tutoring PhD Program between the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and the University of Lisbon (Portugal), with the participation of the Federal University of Tocantins (Brasil) and the University of Brasilia (Brasil).

The Program demands a strong interest of students in the areas of specialization of the Program (Tropical Biology and Ecology; Marine Biology and Ecology; Ecology and Functional Biodiversity; Genome Biology and Evolution: Environmental Biology and Health).

The main objectives of the Program are centred in global changes issues, including the understanding the impact of global changes in living organisms and ecosystems taking into account current scenarios and projections. The total length of the Program is 4 years. The first year includes lectures and workshops by leading scientists. At the same time students will be invited to select and/or develop and propose their own PhD research projects. These projects will be approved by the Coordination Committee of the Program and should be accomplished within the four years of the Program. Opportunities will be given to students to develop their thesis work abroad.
