Introduction
ABOUT THE COURSECurricular grid allows partnerships with several areas and servicesExcellence in training: maximum score in the evaluation of the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) and excellent placement in Enade 2010. Belonging to the recognized Health Area of the City of São Paulo University - UNICID, the Biomedicine course It has a modular curriculum. The proposal is to integrate basic disciplines and clinical disciplines into units, such as the Aggression and Defense module, which address contents of Pathology, Microbiology, Immunology, Parasitology, among others. Differentiated methodology. The entire curricular content approach uses an active teaching and learning methodology capable of stimulating the future Biomedical to develop a critical spirit preparing him for the professional field. Therefore, we encourage students to learn to learn and learn by doing, thus obtaining better training and professional qualification. Partnerships with research institutes and laboratories. In this way, students have access to complete training, which will enable them to work in partnership with research institutes, technological development industries, laboratories for complementary and predictive diagnosis of human pathologies, as well as environmental and food analyses, studies/analyses in human genetics and molecular biology. Theory into Practice! In addition, the implementation of the Interdisciplinary Community Health Program (PISCO), whose fields of activity are the community environments, the University, the Family Health Program teams and primary health services, allow students to be in constant contact with the population and professional practice. Thus preparing them to act in the community, integrating public health teams, carrying out planning, supervision and control of health programs related to disease prevention. Quality infrastructure and modern laboratories. The University brings together the highest quality infrastructure, with modern laboratories, such as the newest Clinical Analysis Laboratory, which contributes to teaching, research, health care and provision of services to the community, with technical excellence and quality.
JOB MARKETActing in several areas such as research and teaching. Biomedicine is a broad and promising career, with a diverse job market. It has more than 35 areas of expertise recognized by the Federal Council of Biomedicine. Of these areas of activity, two stand out mainly: teaching/research and Clinical Analysis. Teaching in postgraduate, master's and doctoral courses. Research can be basic (such as molecular biology or immunology) or clinically applied research (such as human reproduction). Most biomedical doctors who work with teaching and research after graduation follow an academic career with postgraduate, master's and doctoral courses. Labor market favorable to the professional. In addition to clinical analysis (laboratory diagnosis), the other areas of activity of the biomedical are: blood banks, where the professional performs all tasks, with the exception of transfusion; environmental analyses, where it develops physical-chemical and microbiological analyzes for environmental sanitation; food and toxicological analysis; industries, being able to act in the development and research of serums, vaccines and reagents; imaging, in which the biomedical works in the area of X-rays, ultrasound, tomography, magnetic resonance and nuclear medicine. In the area of molecular biology, it performs laboratory tests involving DNA, such as paternity tests, risk assessment of genetic diseases, among others.
DIFFERENTIALOne of the differentials of the course is the active teaching and learning methodology, based on problem solving. This innovative methodology makes it possible to solve problems that make it possible to integrate and study the contents established in the curriculum according to specific needs. Among the main characteristics are: - the student is responsible for his learning, including the organization of his time and the search for opportunities to learn; - the curriculum is integrated and integrating and provides a general guideline, facilitating and stimulating learning. This line follows thematic modules of the curriculum and problems, which should be discussed and solved in groups; - a vast learning opportunity is offered through laboratories, internships in research centers, work with the community, libraries and access to electronic means ;- the student is immediately inserted into practical activities relevant to his future professional life;- the curriculum is dynamic, that is, it can be modified by experience;- assistance to the student is individualized, allowing him to discuss his difficulties with professionals involved with curriculum management, when necessary. Another differential of the course is the PISCO (Interdisciplinary Community Health Program). They are activities developed in one of the periods of the week prioritizing the biological-social-ethical approach. Carried out through study groups, preferably multidisciplinary, PISCO adopts a problematizing methodology and scientific investigation. The fields of action are the community environments, the University, the Family Health Program teams, primary health services.
