Artificial Intelligence (AI) transformed the human relationship with technology and is the current axis of the digital ecosystem. Their technologies have the potential to create a future of increasing well-being and are allies to carry out some tasks that were previously considered exclusive to humans, such as reasoning, learning or solving problems.
The Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence (MaIA) at Universidad de los Andes is designed for Spanish-speaking professionals with basic knowledge in programming, linear algebra, and probability and statistics. During the program, students acquire the theoretical and practical tools necessary to excel in an interdisciplinary context and become technical and ethically responsible leaders, who contribute to the development of society with technologies such as:

MaIA students learn with the same quality of an in-person master's degree from the Universidad de los Andes and their degree will be equivalent to that of an in-person program (it is not a “virtual diploma”). Our Artificial Intelligence curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive training that covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of this discipline, with the aim of training highly specialized professionals in a variety of AI methods and their various applications.
Through our focus on the different areas of Artificial Intelligence, our students acquire the knowledge necessary to excel in the field and achieve an exceptional level of technical specialization.
The program has 36 credits distributed over 4 semesters, with a total duration of 24 months. Each semester is made up of two 8-week cycles. During each cycle you will take two courses simultaneously.
Curriculum:
The courses have been organized into four components, so that you gradually acquire knowledge and skills and can delve deeper towards the end of the master's degree in your preferred areas:
Basic component: This component teaches the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence related to its different areas and the mathematical bases necessary for understanding machine learning methods. Also, as a fundamental axis of this program, the ethical aspects of AI will be studied.
Deepening component: Deepening component: This component is dedicated to the study of the different techniques of machine learning and deep learning, in a context that combines theory and practice.
Elective component: The objective of this component is to give flexibility to the program so that it can be adapted to different audiences and interests. It is made up of a set of options, which are associated with the different AI topics that can be studied in the program and that offer the student different paths of specialization.
Practical component. The purpose of this component is to provide the student with the opportunity to integrate and apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the master's degree through the development of an integrative project, which is made up of two courses: the first aims to construct of solutions to a current problem; The second pursues the implementation and deployment of solutions on a cloud-based computing platform.
