Introduction

The general objective of the course is to improve the communicative competencies in Spanish and intercultural competence as well.

Methodology

Theoretical and practical sessions with a communicative approach in which the students work on the four language skills (listening, speaking, writing, and reading) and learn an appropriate range of grammar and vocabulary in accordance with the topics studied in class.

Volunteer work

It relates to social work led by non-profit organizations near the University. Volunteers will be able to have firsthand experience working with children, teenagers, and socially vulnerable people. It is an opportunity to share knowledge and experiences with the local community. The work comprises six (6) hours a week in the afternoons.

Cultural Activities

One of the most interesting benefits of this experience is to visit one of the huge lists of cultural places inside Bogotá. There are museums, parks, monuments, and Mines. Most outgoings are free and some might imply extra cost.

Cultural & Sports Activities

As part of your cultural immersion, you will be able to choose from a wide variety of sports and cultural courses as Latin dancing, photography, painting, cooking, singing, piano, guitar, swimming, tennis, volleyball, among others. Some classes might imply extra cost (around 50 USD a semester)

Built with the most traditional architecture, our campus has been transformed into a modern campus with big buildings with modern classrooms. There’s a synergy between green areas and buildings so the student can live a real campus experience.

Restaurants

Provided with the most nutritive meals, our restaurant is indoors and outdoors. Includes food from breakfast to dinner and with different diets for everyone. We have also coffee shops with typical bakeries and sweets.

Sports Facilities

We have soccer fields for 11 vs 11 and 7 vs 7. A gym fully equipped which includes classes all day. The Oriental campus has courts for playing tennis, basketball, volleyball, dance, and soccer tennis.

Bogotá

Known as the Athens of South America, Bogotá has an extensive educational system of both primary and secondary schools and colleges.

Chía

Chia is a small town about 8 km. north of Bogota. It is very close to the University, about 5 minutes by car, which make access very easy and quick. Life in Chia is very peaceful. Public transportation from Bogota to Chia is only available until 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Homestay

Homestay offers an opportunity to share with a family and an easy way to know and adapt to the Colombian culture. The families are rigorously selected to ensure friendly, comfortable, clean, safe service, and easy access to public transportation. Students can choose accommodation in Bogotá or Chia. The service includes individual rooms, breakfast, dinner, laundry once a week, cleaning service to the room once a week and Internet.
