Master in Nautical and Underwater Archeology

Archeology is as such the science that studies past societies based on their historical, economic and social structures, with a specific method and certain techniques. This is how Nautical and Underwater Archeology (also called maritime, underwater) arises. And it is that, from the origin of Humanity to the present, societies have maintained an intense and constant relationship with rivers, seas and oceans, which have conditioned their development and formed a significant part of their cultural heritage. Indeed, the peculiar conditions imposed by the aquatic environment have generated for centuries a specific culture that manifests itself from religious beliefs linked to the sea and the use of marine and fluvial resources, to scientific and technical knowledge applied to nautical problems, going through the organization of naval trade or the strategy of the war at sea. The result is a specific culture that, inseparable from the historical evolution on the mainland, constitutes a cultural Heritage whose investigation, preservation and dissemination is essential for the knowledge of our History and of today's society. Here lies the scope of study of this Master's Degree.
