Key Summary

About : The Master's Degree in Circular Engineering focuses on sustainable design, resource efficiency, and innovative practices in engineering. This program encourages a multidisciplinary approach, equipping students with skills to tackle challenges related to waste reduction and resource recovery. Duration of the course is typically two years and is offered by The University of Sheffield.
Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue various roles in industries focused on sustainability, such as circular economy consulting, environmental engineering, waste management, or product design. Potential positions include sustainability manager, process engineer, or research and development specialist, all emphasizing innovative practices and solutions.

The need to preserve the planet and guarantee a strong economy for current and future generations is what has led the European Commission to promote the “ Green Deal ” which highlights the need to advance the transition from the current production model based on a Linear Economy to a Circular model.

This transition requires innovative engineering solutions that require a new way of thinking. Circular Engineering could therefore be considered as a new branch of engineering dedicated to sustainable production , energy efficiency and eco-design , and is based on feedback and minimizing environmental impact.

Students will acquire knowledge of the design of environmentally sustainable industrial processes, selection of circular materials and energy efficiency, according to the most demanding economic criteria and legislation that is sensitive to environmental and sustainability issues, and will be able to make decisions according to design criteria, properties and costs .

This master's degree is supported by some of the country's most important companies and institutions, such as Coca-Cola Europe, Acciona, Recyclia, the Circular Economy Foundation and the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid.
