Introduction
The cycle of studies for the master's degree in Applied Biochemistry is comprised of 4 semesters (2 academic years). Those who obtain 120 ECTS are awarded the title.
This master's degree aims to provide comprehensive, solid and up-to-date academic training in the field of Biochemistry, strongly focused on its practical aspects.
During the first year of the 2nd cycle of Applied Biochemistry, students will attend eight curricular units, compulsory and optional. The main goal of these units is to demonstrate the importance and the contribution of Biochemistry to the development of other fields of knowledge, namely health, food and environment.
The second year of this degree includes the creation of a project, (predominantly projects of a laboratory nature, carried out in a research or business environment) that enables students to develop their knowledge, skills and competences, within one of the most specific application areas of Biochemistry - according to their areas of interest.
The Master's Degree in Applied Biochemistry has the support, both in human and physical resources, of the Faculty of Exact Sciences and of the CQM โ Centro de Quรญmica da Madeira (โChemistry Centre of Madeiraโ, a research centre belonging to the National Network of R&D units funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology).
Candidates
This degree is aimed at those who hold an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, chemistry, biology, pharmacy, or other related fields. Candidates should be holders of an undergraduate degree or the legal equivalent; holders of an international higher academic degree recognized as meeting the objectives of an Undergraduate degree; holders of school, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the head of this cycle of studies, attesting to the ability to the conclusion of the degree.
