Introduction
Goals
The PhD in Architecture at Universidade Lusófona do Porto has as its main objective the training of researchers and teachers in the field of Architecture. The present proposal aims to satisfy the need for innovative and creative training in the country and in the Portuguese-speaking space in its area of expertise, Architecture.
The central object of the Doctorate in Architecture is the investigation of the integration of Architecture in society, considering the areas that interact with it, namely from a social, cultural, technical and economic point of view.
In this sense, the thesis to be carried out by those enrolled in the doctorate may be of a theoretical or theoretical/practical nature, aiming in particular at an architecture project.
An additional objective of this doctorate is to reinforce the research and training capacity of the Department of Architecture at ECATI - School of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies at ULHT and FCATI - Faculty of Communication, Architecture, Arts and Information Technologies at ULP .
Knowledge, abilities and skills to be acquired
The PhD in Architecture at Universidade Lusófona do Porto aims to provide the following skills:
- Ability to develop a research project in the field of architecture;
- Analysis and integration of results and data relating to the state of the art for the subject area and in particular through an original and innovative architectural project;
- Develop an architectural research program in a theoretical and/or practical design aspect that integrates the knowledge acquired throughout the course's curricular component;
- Communicate critically with your academic peers;
- Transmit advanced and innovative knowledge, including the guidance of research projects in the field of architecture;
- Understanding and critical evaluation of architectural design processes and architectural theory in the contemporary context.
