Introduction

The "Embedded Systems" professional master's program, within the field of "Computer Science and Information Technology," prepares specialists in computer science and engineering for academic and industrial research and development activities. This specialization provides insight into the latest trends in the IT field, emphasizing the progressive transition from traditional computing to contextual information processing, which is increasingly prevalent in modern hardware-software engineering methods. Additionally, graduates will form a significant pool of candidates for doctoral studies in IT.

Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (ULBS) has a strong historical foundation, deeply connected to the industrial development of Sibiu. The city has a long-standing tradition in mechanical engineering and manufacturing, dating back to the 19th century when it hosted numerous industrial enterprises, including Rieger Factories (later known as Independența) and COMPA S.A. These companies played a crucial role in Romania's machine-building industry.

The faculty was officially established in 1976 as part of the Institute of Higher Education in Sibiu, later evolving into an Institute of Sub-Engineers under the Polytechnic Institute of Cluj-Napoca in 1986. Following the Romanian Revolution of 1989, the institute transformed into Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu in 1990, with the Faculty of Engineering as one of its founding pillars.

Since then, the faculty has continuously expanded, offering accredited bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs in engineering fields such as Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Automotive Engineering, and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies. It maintains strong partnerships with leading companies like Continental, Siemens, Marquardt, COMPA, Dacia, Romgaz, and Transgaz, ensuring that students gain practical, industry-relevant experience.

With over 40 years of academic excellence, the Faculty of Engineering at ULBS remains a key player in Romania’s technical education and innovation landscape.
