LLB Senior Status

Our LLB (Hons) Senior Status degree has been designed specifically for graduates who wish to convert to the study of law. It's for those who wish to convert to the study of law but want to study over a two-year period. Students will study the foundation subjects but have the benefit of being able to select 4 law option subjects so as to enhance career development prospects. For overseas students, this degree may also allow you exemptions in your home jurisdiction (interested applicants must check any possible exemptions with their home jurisdiction prior to undertaking the course). In the 2021 National Student Survey, the University of Law has been ranked first amongst universities in England for the category of 'teaching on my course'. JD Canadian Pathway: If you’re interested in practising law in Canada or a Canadian university graduate, this course has a Canadian pathway offering modules in Canadian Law that will help prepare you for the Canadian NCA (National Committee on Accreditation) exams.* The law modules are ‘Foundations of Canadian Law’ and ‘Canadian Constitutional Law’ and are available at the London Bloomsbury campus only. ‘Foundations of Canadian Law’ will give you a sound knowledge of the history, principles and main sources of the Canadian legal system, while the ‘Canadian Constitutional Law’ module concerns the history of Canadian Constitutional law and basic constitutional principles. In order to take the JD Canadian pathway, select the optional Canadian modules during your studies.

LLB Law Senior Status

The LLB (Hons) Law Senior Status is a specifically designed degree for students who already hold an undergraduate degree and want to convert to law study over a two year period. You can study all the necessary modules for a law degree while enjoying the flexibility of being able to select three LLB course options to suit areas that interest you. Studying our degree will also mean you are prepared in part for the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE 1) or to progress onto our Bar Practice Course (if you wish to qualify as a barrister).

Full-time two year LLB Senior Status

Our LLB (Hons) Senior Status degree is a two year LLB programme specifically designed for students who already hold a degree. In addition to gaining a Qualifying Law Degree in just two years, the programme offers you the additional flexibility of being able to select three LLB course options in your second year.

This degree is taught by the same experienced, professional tutors as our standard three year LLB, using the same high-quality teaching methods. The course combines academic rigour with practical legal skills, providing you with the essential groundwork of your legal education while you study with other students in a professional business-like environment.

The Senior Status degree is a particularly good choice for overseas students because you may benefit from some exemptions in your home jurisdiction – a good example of this is the Canadian Law modules available as electives in your second year. We recommend that you check any possible exemptions within your home jurisdiction prior to undertaking the course.

Assessment

At the end of each semester, you’ll get a week for revision before two weeks of assessments.

• Exams: Two hours, ten multiple-choice questions and two long-form questions
• Coursework: Essay, project report or portfolio
• Oral presentation

We run mock assessments to allow you to practise before too.

Course Requirements

• Applicants must possess a 2:2 or above from an undergraduate degree in any discipline.
• Students who will be under the age of 18 but no younger than 17 at the commencement of the course are permitted.
• International applicants: must have an English language level equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or above with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.

• September 2022 fees: UK: £9,250 per year. International: £14,750 per year (London).
• Fees are locked for future study years i.e. the student will pay the same price each year.
• Please note: as this course can only be taken by those already possessing an undergraduate degree, it is not eligible for an undergraduate student loan.
