Key Summary

About: The BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Foundation Year offers students a comprehensive introduction to computer science principles, with a dedicated foundation year for those needing to strengthen their knowledge. This program helps you build essential skills in programming, systems design, and data management, preparing you for a career in tech.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue various roles in the IT sector, including software developer, data analyst, systems engineer, and IT consultant. The program aims to equip you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in a fast-evolving industry.

Introduction

In this course, we’ll teach you the fundamentals of computing and how it can be applied to the industry and wider economy, so you’ll graduate ready to contribute. You’ll gain hands-on, practical experience, obtaining the ability to design and develop software solutions for today’s big business problems.

You'll immerse yourself in the local tech community, with regular guest speakers and networking events allowing you to learn from the experts and make connections to support your future career prospects.

You won’t need any specialist equipment at home, as all the software you’ll use is cloud-based. Lab facilities at our London campus will house all the specialist equipment that you’ll need, such as high-spec computers and VR headsets.

You can choose to take an additional Foundation Year before you start your BSc in Computer Science. This introductory year focuses on developing the key skills required to study at the degree level and covers the same six modules as on our other undergraduate degrees. The modules covered will initially enhance your communication skills, digital and information literacy, and ability to think critically. You then have the added flexibility of switching your degree program if another discipline captures your interest, subject to availability and entry requirements.
