Introduction

Studies in mining and geology combine knowledge of earth sciences and technical sciences with issues about engineering processes. They allow the student to gain technical knowledge and the ability to use it in compliance with safety rules, efficient communication with the environment and managing a team of people.

Studies in the field of Mining and Geology through the implementation of such subjects as: basics of mining, mining hydrogeology, underground mining of deposits, basics of ergonomics, vertical and horizontal transport, basics of underground construction, thermodynamics and the impact of mining exploitation on the surface allow the student to acquire knowledge and skills that allow understand the processes used in underground and opencast mining. In addition, thanks to the subjects that explain the essence of the phenomena, i.e. rock mass mechanics, rock mass physics, mining geophysics, shooting in mining, mine ventilation, underground fires, mine air conditioning, students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills in the field of associated hazards during professional duties. On the other hand, subjects such as gas-dynamic hazards in mines, natural and technical hazards in underground mines, accidents and occupational diseases in mining allow you to get to know the real and immediate hazards associated with working in a mine.
