Teaching and learning
The programme is delivered through a combination of lectures, case studies, class discussions and group projects.
Students typically study 4 compulsory modules, each worth 15 credits in Terms 1 and 2. The Dissertation project takes place over Term 3. In addition to the core modules, the programme includes multiple bootcamps throughout the year, where industry leaders visit to teach the latest knowledge and techniques in data analytics, artificial intelligence, and organisational design.
Assessment is through written examinations, individual/group coursework, and a 12,000-word dissertation project. The dissertation project will typically involve practical topics chosen by you as the student and address a range of people-related challenges faced by organisations.
Each taught module in Terms 1 and 2 is delivered over 10 weeks, with 3 contact hours per week comprising lecture content and interactive components. This means you can expect approximately 12 contact hours per week in Terms 1 and 2.
In addition, students spend approximately 7-12 hours a week on each module on assessment and independent study to further develop the skills and knowledge covered in lectures and seminars.
The total number of weekly hours will vary according to the module and the activities being undertaken. Furthermore, contact hours will be reduced to approximately 2-5 hours per week during Term 3, when students focus on their dissertation module.
