If you have specific circumstances or ethnic or religious background it is worth searching for scholarships/bursaries/grants that relate to those things. Some schemes are very specific.
Funding for disabled students
Master's students who have a disability may be able to get extra funding for additional costs they incur to study.
Teaching and learning
We combine remote teaching with some face-to-face sessions. Remote teaching consists of webinars and self-directed study.
Face-to-face teaching comprises interactive lectures, seminars, hands-on training, live surgery, and supervised clinical treatment (both surgical and restorative implant treatment) in our state-of-the-art facilities.
During attendance days, you will engage in hands on practical skills work to develop practical and transferable skills. You will receive personal feedback. At the end of each attendance day, you will engage in a consolidation and feedback session with your peers.
Throughout the programme you will be assessed by a variety of methods, including unseen written and oral examinations, multiple choice questions (MCQ), short answer questions, in-class essays, practical lab exercises and presentations (PowerPoint, video).
Clinical case presentations and reflective portfolios are formative assessments, where candidates gather evidence across the board over their day-to-day practice of clinical dentistry in relation to the patients they treat and their reflective qualitative learning.
The dissertation will be a relevant piece of scientific research.
This part-time MSc requires 600 learning hours per year for three years (1,800 hours total). It includes around 574 contact hours over the three years.
The MSc year is broadly self-directed learning as you work towards two pieces for assessment: a 4,000-word research paper and a 10-minute video presentation. You will have around 10 contact days spread evenly across the academic year, covering sessions on topics such as research methodology and statistics. Usually, you spend two full days onsite at the Eastman. The remainder are remote meetings with supervisors on Teams and may vary slightly depending on the demands of your research topic. The remaining 530 learning hours are to work towards your submissions and should be spread evenly across the year (around 10-12 hours per week). You will continue working on your dissertation during the summer of the final year.
