Key Summary
The aim of the UC3M Bachelor&rsquo's Degree in Sociology is to train professionals in applied social research. The degree prepares students for different areas of sociology, including more traditional ones such as public opinion research, problems of social integration, and processes of socialization, and newer ones like social policy assessment, local development, human resource management, and cooperation for development.
To do this, they will obtain specialized knowledge in the study of social problems of contemporary societies; solid training in sociological theory is a requirement to understand social reality in depth, as well as in research methods and techniques.
The UC3M is, in addition, the only Spanish university that offers a specialization in evaluative research, a field in full development, which offers the necessary knowledge to analyze intervention programs in the public, private, and non-governmental organization spheres. This training is completed with internships in the most important companies, institutions, and organizations in the sector.

UC3M has agreements with over 3000 companies and institutions in which students can undertake internships and access job openings.

The Erasmus program allows UC3M undergraduate and postgraduate students to study one or more semesters at one of the European universities with which UC3M has agreements or carry out an Erasmus Placement, that is, an internship stay. in some companies in the EU. These exchanges have financial support thanks to the Erasmus Scholarships provided by the EU and the Spanish Ministry of Education.
For its part, the Non-European Mobility program allows UC3M undergraduate students to study one or several semesters in one of these international universities with which the university maintains agreements. It also has financial support provided by Banco Santander and UC3M.

Applied social research studies constitute one of the most recognized fields of activity in Sociology, including social market research, opinion studies, and social studies themselves. The sociologist carries out an integrative study of consumption as a social practice, as well as their symbolic representations, brand images, or marketing strategies.
He is, in addition, a professional adequately trained to analyze public opinion, as well as the design and application of communication strategies in all types of organizations, and studies of behavior, attitudes, and opinions of different social groups. Added to this is the study of old and new problems such as poverty, exclusion, immigration, violence, inequality between women and men, the emancipation of young people, or the care of dependents. Sociology provides a comprehensive vision that allows diagnosing social phenomena, their trends, and foreseeable evolution from a double quantitative and qualitative perspective.
On the other hand, the Public Policy profile takes shape in the sociologist as a specialist knowledgeable in its design, management, planning, and evaluation to improve the quality of life and well-being of the population. The sociology professional trained in this profile is in charge of managing public resources, as well as analyzing the habits of the population and evaluating the effects of the policies developed.
In summary, Sociology professionals today carry out their activity in a wide variety of areas and institutions, from the most classic ones such as public opinion research, problems of social integration or socialization processes to newer ones such as the evaluation of social policies, local development or human resource management.
