Introduction
The degree program Sustainable Business Administration (B.A.) aims to provide students with the necessary specialist and interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and methods of business administration, together with the aspects of sustainability, in a first professional qualification.
The program is based on a detailed teaching of scientific and methodological principles in the various areas of accounting, marketing, sustainable management, and economics. This is supplemented by foreign language training. In addition, students have the opportunity to determine their focus in the 4th and 6th semesters. In addition to basic compulsory elective modules in business administration, they can expand their knowledge in the areas of green technologies, climate protection management, sustainability reporting, and sustainable transformation. Current developments in companies, institutions, markets, and job profiles are taken into account.
At the same time, practical relevance is ensured. Students can work in companies, organizations, or administrations as part of internships, seminars, and projects - even over longer periods - to apply the knowledge they have acquired directly. In addition, they expand their language skills and soft skills through group work, communication training, presentations, and other independent teaching contributions. As an alternative to the practical study phase in the 5th semester, a semester abroad at a partner university can be used to deepen intercultural and language skills.

Rankings
For many years, the Environmental Campus has consistently been recognized for its special profile in sustainability. The German government, UNESCO, and many other organizations have already honored us with important prizes and awards. We are very proud of this. Here are some examples of recent awards:
CHE 2023: The degree programs in the Department of Environmental Economics/Environmental Law (UW/UR) achieved impressive results in the latest CHE ranking. Overall, the degree programs in Environmental and Business Administration, Business and Environmental Law, and the international Bachelor's degree program in Sustainable Business and Technology at the department achieved top rankings fifteen times.
GreenMetric Ranking 2023: The Environmental Campus Birkenfeld takes an outstanding third place in a global comparison of 1,183 participating universities from 85 countries that took part in the renowned UI GreenMetric Ranking 2023. Klaus Helling, Sustainability Officer at the Environmental Campus, summarises the top position succinctly: "The UI GreenMetric Ranking is comparable to the Olympic Games or a world championship in sport. The Environmental Campus comes third in the sustainability world championship for universities. We have worked hard for many years, are number 1 in Germany, and have firmly established ourselves among the world leaders - now we have been rewarded with the bronze medal!"

Career Opportunities
The knowledge acquired enables students to enter a career in a wide variety of fields and functions, particularly in the commercial sector. With such a - rather classic - career start, the addition of sustainability-related elements to the profound economic knowledge provided in the degree course to promote an "ecological or social conscience" is a clear plus point. This future-oriented attitude is more in demand in the job market than in the past.
Graduates can take on tasks in nationally and internationally active companies and organizations, in various areas of the economy, or the public sector.
