Introduction

Tougaloo College’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program is a graduate degree program designed for individuals holding bachelor’s degrees in academic majors other than education. It is designed purposely for those students who have 30 hours or more in a specific concentration in their undergraduate degrees and wish to become certified in teaching at the elementary, middle, or high school levels. Our MAT program prepares highly qualified professionals and recent graduates to become teachers with the skills and knowledge needed to meet today’s diverse classrooms' challenges.
