About: The Child and Youth Care BA at Toronto Metropolitan University trains students to advocate for children and youth facing adversity. You’ll learn to design developmental, preventative and therapeutic programs and explore policy, research and advocacy. Small classes, internships, co-op, zone learning, minors, mentoring and a research project prepare you. Graduates are eligible for Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC) certification.
Career Outcomes: Graduates work in community agencies, residential treatment, schools, mental health and advocacy organizations. Roles include child and youth care worker, youth counsellor, residential support worker, case manager, program coordinator, policy analyst, research assistant, or outreach.
Transforming the lives of children and youth facing adversity requires knowledge of the specialized theories and techniques needed to advocate for their rights. You ll learn to design and implement developmental, preventative and therapeutic programs and explore policy areas, research and advocacy options.
Small interactive classes, local and international internships, mentoring opportunities and an independent research project will prepare you to promote the participation of children and youth in society.
