The Department of Finance, part of the Belk College of Business, prepares students for financial leadership within organizations and provides them with an understanding of the legal environment in which these organizations operate. In the department’s various programs, students acquire knowledge that enables them to understand:
- The concepts, processes and institutions involved in planning for, acquiring and allocating capital with respect to modern business organizations
- The economic and legal environment of organizations, and the myriad social and political influences on business
- The concepts and methods of economics, accounting, mathematics, management, information systems and business law
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B.S.B.A.) degree with a Major in Finance must select one of four concentrations: Finance, Finance and Accounting, Real Estate or Risk Management and Insurance.
