Introduction

Career-Oriented Curriculum

The Moritz College of Law provides a career-oriented curriculum to its students. With combined offerings of doctrinal courses in major legal practice areas (such as corporate law, litigation, dispute resolution, labor and employment law, and intellectual property) and experiential learning courses (such as the Mediation Clinic, the Legislation Clinic, and the Public Interest Externship program, moot court competitions,) Moritz equips LLM candidates with essential lawyering skills and real-life work experience that meet the demand of the global legal market.

A flexible degree, LLM students at Moritz may design their own curriculum that best suits their career goals, either by selecting any courses from over 100 courses in all major areas of U.S., transnational and international law, or focusing on one of the six academic concentrations that focus on major legal practice areas in the global market.

LLM- JD Transfer

LLM students at Moritz has the option to transfer to the JD program upon completion of the LLM program. Most credits earned from the LLM degree are transferrable to the JD program. As a result, LLM-JD transfer students will complete the JD program only in two years. LSAT test is not required.

LLM Student Support

The academic year at Moritz is enriched through a wide range of resources and student support services available both at the College of Law and the Ohio State University, including one-on-one academic advising, career advising, mentoring program, mental health and wellness programs, Faculty Resource Advisors, and LLM-JD Buddy program. Our career and professional development programs help prepare LLM students for job search post-graduation during the OPT period (OPT - Optional Practical Training - allows F-1 visa students temporary employment of up to 12 months after graduation in law-related roles, working at least 20 hours a week or full time).

Preparation for Bar Exam Success

At Moritz, LLM students may take courses on all subjects tested on the New York bar exam as well as many other bar exams in the U.S., such as Ohio, California, D.C., Massachusetts, Texas, Washington. LLM students also receive a low-cost commercial bar prep course from THEMIS, one of the largest national bar review providers, along with bar exam info sessions and workshops at the law school throughout the academic year. This bar exam prep course will help them prepare for all of the bar exams listed above.
