Presentation: The analysis and study of territorial and urban development are acquiring an increasingly leading role within the framework of promoting the different national and regional expansion, development and integration strategies based on growth with inclusion and cooperation between the different levels of the State and other institutional instances. Thus, from the perspective of the Social Sciences, a “more territorial” approach to research for public policies has taken an interesting impulse. It is not a fanciful reaction, but an expected response to highly relevant socio-territorial mutations that are occurring.

That is why in order to promote sustainable and socially equal territorial and urban economic development, with the generation of employment, income, and equitable opportunities for all sectors of the population, it is imperative to design study and research projects on territorial and urban processes. that allows knowing and diagnosing the accelerated dynamics of transformation as well as their bases and socio-economic configurations that give them support. These investigations, in addition to contributing a rich body of knowledge and debates existing in the current academic world, maybe an irreplaceable input that, together with the measures aimed at achieving the main macroeconomic balances and the promotion of productive diversity, can promote policies territorial in nature aimed at identifying and promoting spatial potentialities and sustainable adjustments between population, economy, and territory.
