Key Summary
About: BSc (Hons) in Nursing at the British University in Egypt grew from a 1998 UKโEgypt memorandum and a partnership with Queen Margaret University (QMU), Scotland. QMU advised curriculum, facility planning and faculty development for the Magrabi Mansour Nursing Faculty (MMNF). MMNF combines solid academic foundations and clinical experience to prepare graduates for professional and international nursing. It emphasizes nursing education, clinical skills and patient-centered care.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can work as clinical nurses, community health nurses, hospital nurses, nurse educators, nurse managers, research nurses and international nurses in acute care, primary care, public health, NGOs and international health services.
A collaborative agreement was established as a result of Dr Akef Maghrabi and BUE approaching Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Scotland (UK) to be a partner in developing a nursing faculty (MMNF)within the British University in Egypt (BUE). The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of International Cooperation and the Social Fund were very supportive of this initiative. In addition, the main component of the collaboration wished to roll out the model of the Nursing Faculty at BUE across the Middle East with QMU as the major partner. The initial program proposal represents a re-shaping and upgrading of nursing within the region.
QMU has also acted as a consultant for the building and space planning strategy for the new Nursing Faculty in Shorouk through the auspices of the QMU Estates Manager. Magrabi Mansour Nursing Faculty prepares nurses to meet the exciting and rapid pace of todayโs healthcare environment. MMNF graduates find they have the solid academic foundation and clinical experience they need to meet the challenges of a career in professional and international nursing.
