Key Summary
Why the Terry EMBA?
Leadership has never been more critical for success in business. Technological innovation, global competition, and the complexity of a diverse yet networked world all fuel demand organizational leadership that can respond effectively to rapid change, and in so doing create world-class enterprises that are responsive, creative, supportive, and highly flexible. To address this need, the Executive MBA program at the Terry College of Business is designed to develop the skills and perspectives working professionals need to meet the leadership challenges of tomorrow. Building on the Terry College's strong reputation as a leader in business education, the Executive MBA program blends several distinct elements into a unique learning experience that is ideal for individuals seeking professional and personal growth.
Focus on Leadership Development
The focus and foundation of the Executive MBA program is personal leadership development. Participants learn about the important dimensions of effective leadership, and measure their initial skill level in each leadership trait using a series of assessment instruments. This information is used to construct a personal development plan that serves as a roadmap for leadership growth. A professional executive coach is also assigned to each participant to provide guidance and feedback throughout the program.
Distance Learning Technologies
Content delivery in the Executive MBA program involves a mix of traditional classroom instruction and distance learning. Classroom interaction allows participants to take advantage of the collective experience of the group to better understand how business concepts and principles can be applied to real-world settings. The use of distance learning technologies reduces the amount of face-to-face class time in the program, thereby providing participants with additional flexibility to learn at a time and place that is most convenient for them.
Program Format
The Terry Executive MBA is an 18-month program. It includes two weeklong residencies on the campus of the University of Georgia, 21 weekend sessions in Atlanta, and a 10-day international residency. This format allows participants to accommodate their many professional and personal obligations and still obtain an MBA degree from a highly rated business school in a relatively short period of time.
