Introduction

The Faculty of Installation Engineering (FII) was established in 1949. The Faculty trains engineers specializing in the design, construction and operation of all systems in a building: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water and wastewater supply, lighting, aspects of building security (fire safety, burglary protection, etc.), energy production and distribution systems (thermal and cooling installations, renewable energies, heat distribution, electricity distribution), building automation and management systems. This field covers both the existing built environment, its rehabilitation and the design and construction of the built environment of the future.

The activity of the graduate engineer is closely linked to that of architects and civil engineers. There are about 1,000 students in the bachelor's programs (2 courses "Building Systems", one in Romanian and one in French, and one course "Systems and Equipment for the Protection of the Atmosphere") and in the master's programs (6 courses: 1 in French, "Energy Efficiency of Buildings", joint master's degree with the University of La Rochelle; 5 in Romanian: Energy Efficiency of Buildings", "Energy, Comfort and Sustainable Development", "High-Performance Technologies for the Protection of the Urban Environment", "Fire Safety and Security of Buildings", "Renewable Energy Sources in Buildings") and in the doctoral program (PhD in Civil Engineering and Installations).
