Civil Engineering Program Overview
Accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education, the Bachelor entitled “Civil Engineering” / “Génie civil” is a 4-year undergraduate program, with teaching and examinations entirely in English or French.
Organised within the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages (FILS) of Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) since the early 90s, the Bachelor's contains 8 semesters (4-years) with an associated total number of 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
The bachelors are open to Romanian and foreign high school graduates. They also accommodate Erasmus+ exchange students. UTCB has 126 Erasmus+ agreements with universities from 25 countries. For the academic year 2024-2025 over 30 Erasmus+ students from France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Poland, Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom already registered to follow lectures in our faculty (bachelor or master).
With small groups of students and close contact with the teaching staff, with a remarkable international environment, the Bachelor of Civil Engineering at FILS-UTCB is an excellent choice for students aiming to an international career in the construction industry. The studies at FILS also ensure the development of the communication skills and work capacity in an international environment, with over a third of the students being foreigners.
The same bachelor program is provided at FILS with teaching and examinations in English or in the French language. Exchange students can benefit from this, being allowed to select lectures in both languages and consequently, they can develop their foreign language skills.
The bachelors provide earthquake-resistant design concepts and applications are also included in almost all lectures and projects, Romania being an earthquake-prone country with a long tradition and experience in earthquake engineering. The bachelors benefit from the activities within UTCB’s Seismic Risk Assessment Research Center (CERS.), an important number of the teaching staff being CERS members.
Francophonie is a strong asset of UTCB Member of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) from 1995, UTCB. Accommodates a French lecturer (within a convention with A.U.F. and French Embassy), a French library, a Centre de reussite Universitaire (CRU), and organizes and participates in a lot of francophone activities. The two bachelor programs also accommodate incoming professors within Erasmus+.
Studying at FILS-UTCB will also allow you to discover the dynamic student life in Bucharest and enjoy the beauty of Romania.
