Introduction

The Master of Science (Tourism) is a one-year research-based programme. It prepares students nationally and internationally to advance their careers in teaching and research in higher education institutions, secure employment in specialist areas in the private and public sectors, and pursue their PhD degrees. Students will have an opportunity to work with highly qualified academics and share research ideas with fellow students from diverse backgrounds in an environment that encourages intellectual stimulation and research innovation.

The objective of this programme is in line with the government's aim to spur research and development in the country by increasing the scientists per population ratio. It will further produce specialised manpower to formulate strategic plans for the enhancement of services and products in the tourism industry. Through this programme, students will be able to demonstrate their ability, under supervision, to apply relevant research techniques to their chosen field of study.
