Admissions
Curriculum
The public relations master's program involves 13 months of intensive study.
You may choose between two tracks:
Professional: Prepares you to be a public relations practitioner (36 credits)
Thesis:Leads you to doctoral study in preparation for a career in teaching or research (36 credits)
Under the Professional Track, you may specialize your study by choosing the Sports Media and Communication Track (37 credits), the Social Media Emphasis or the Financial and Investor Communications Emphasis.
Professional track students complete their studies with a culminating experience and may choose the workplace for their public relations internship. Those in the thesis track complete the program by writing a thesis.
Scholarships and Funding
Various scholarships, fellowships and instructional associate positions are awarded to incoming Newhouse students to help offset the cost of attendance. Since Newhouse does have limited funding to offer, the majority of these awards are partial and only applicable for the academic year (excluding the summer sessions). It is also a competitive process, and all awards are merit-based.

Career Opportunities
Public relations professionals provide a variety of services for their clients, from writing press releases to planning special events to monitoring how a company is covered in the media.
PR includes corporate relations, which conveys business issues to employees, stock-holders and investors; community relations, which covers company interaction with local, national and international populations; and marketing communications, which ensures that a company and its products receive media coverage.
