Sullivan’s on-campus and online Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting incorporates a unique blend of accounting, business, information technology, and general education requirements within the curriculum in order to graduate well-rounded, highly competent accounting professionals. Graduates will be prepared for careers in public accounting, management accounting, tax, not-for-profit, cost, governmental, and internal audit.

What qualities should a Bachelor of Science in Accounting student have?
This program would appeal to you if you like numbers basic mathematics and mathematical relationships. In addition, this program will appeal to you if you are organized, analytical, attentive to detail, and able to work and communicate with others. At the bachelor's level, a greater understanding of accounting techniques and the ability to solve various financial and management issues are required.

Total Credit Hours: 180
Length: 18 months beyond Associate Degree
Completion of the Associate Degree or its equivalent (see the Undergraduate Admissions section of the catalog for a description of Sullivan University's 2+2 programs).
The time length for program completion will vary depending upon the number of courses taken per term, developmental courses when required, transfer credit accepted, lack of continuous enrollment, etc.
- General Studies Electives - Students must choose three additional General Education classes, including one from the Natural Sciences / Mathematics category, one from the Social / Behavioral Sciences category, and one from the Humanities / Fine Arts category. These classes are in addition to the required General Education classes listed in the program.
- Free Electives - Students must choose additional classes in consultation with their faculty advisor to balance the program in keeping with the student's personal objectives.
Program Outcome
Objectives
To prepare students to earn CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification.
To ensure all graduates gain a thorough understanding of the fundamentals and applications of accounting, including:
- How to record business transactions using General Ledger Computer Software
- How to use a "Practice Set" that provides a full understanding of the accounting cycle from initial entries through financial statement preparation
- How to design an accounting system
- Tax law through preparation of true-to-life tax returns for individuals and corporations
- Payroll with a simulated model both as a manual system and a computerized system
Account bachelor's degree students will also complete an interdisciplinary capstone business policy project in which they must monitor their own company, make crucial business decisions, and evaluate those results.
